Buffalo Bills Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas is opening a sports bar in Western New York, and members of his Twitter fan community helped name the establishment.
Work on 34 Rush will begin Feb. 4 at Batavia Downs Casino in Batavia, about 30 miles east of Buffalo. The $28 million expansion will wrap up in the fall.
The fan who submitted the winning name won a free dinner with Thomas.
The move is the latest business venture by Thomas in the Buffalo community, to which he moved back permanently in 2007. He runs Thurman Thomas Sports Training in nearby Elma and also started the Thurman Thomas Global Energy Group and Thurman Thomas Cigars. He is part-owner of an indoor football team in Rochester.
