With a losing season and no chance of making the play-offs, the Buffalo Bills know Sunday’s game against the New York Jets still means something. Whether it’s for pride or just to get a win, the team knows they need to finish the season strong and build momentum for next year.

Below is a collection of quotes collected from They are from Bills players and staff about Sunday’s game.

Head coach Chan Gailey: “Obviously you want to win every game, but to win the last one and especially against the Jets—that is a team that we all want to beat any time of the year. It would be great to get a win. Finish it off with a win like that instead of finishing losing. You do not want to do that obviously.”

Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick: “This is a game that they are not playing for a whole lot and we are not really playing for a whole lot in terms of playoff implications, but it is a pride game. It is a game just to go out there and as Chan put it today ‘Who hates to lose?’ You go out there and we hate losing. I am sure they do, too. We have to go out and prove that we are the team that hates to lose more.”

Defensive end Mario Williams: “It is very important (to win the last game of the season). Not just for myself, but everybody in this locker room, or the people upstairs and for the fans. The way the season has been going is obviously not the way that any of us wanted it. We have to come out and we have to win some way, somehow. No matter what it is or what we are doing schematically. Put point on the board and do not let them put points on the board.”

Wide receiver Stevie Johnson: “It’s the last week. We’ve got to give it our all. Obviously there are no playoffs, but we’re going against the New York Jets. They don’t like us, we don’t like them and basically it’s going to be a physical battle and whoever hates to lose is going to be the team that wins this game. Right now we’re feeling like we’ve got to take this.”

Safety George Wilson: “To put everything in perspective we obviously haven’t accomplished the goals we set out to for our team this season. We’re not going to make any excuses for it. We have to take ownership of it. We’ve got to finish it out on a strong note this week. There’s nothing we can do right now to change what has happened up until this point. We can only focus on the Jets this week.”

The Bills will close out their regular season on Sunday against the Jets at 1 p.m.
