The Buffalo Bills cut veteran linebacker Kirk Morrison on Monday, 12 games into a season in which he hasn't played a single down.

Morrison joined the Bills in 2011 and was re-signed this past offseason. But rookie Nigel Bradham has been seeing more playing time and was better on special teams, so Morrison has been a healthy scratch all season.

The 30-year-old linebacker played 14 games for the Bills last year, recording six tackles. He had started every game over the first six years of his career with Oakland and Jacksonville, registering 727 tackles with seven interceptions.

Morrison was sad but accepting of the roster move via Twitter:

"I want to take this time to thank the Buffalo Bills organization and its fan base for making me feel at home over the last two seasons. One of the hardest parts of leaving an organization is saying goodbye to the people I have become close to and thankful for having met from the security guards, cooks, mail room attendants, janitors, trainers, equipment staff, media relations dept., coaches, etc. These relationships and friendships will last a lifetime with me. Being released/cut in the NFL is always a tough situation for a player but in my 8 yrs of playing in the NFL, I know it brings new opportunity and new experiences as well as Life lessons. I look forward to what God above has in store for me for the rest of my football career and life ahead. God Bless"
